08.07.13 Moar Conventional Deadlift PR

Cognitive is an extremely heavy TDM band from New Jersey.  So far, they've released one EP.


My lower body training is still centered around conventional deadlift because it and goodmornings are pretty much all that I can go heavy on without bothering the old hip.

This is a PR, but I wanted to try 500 today.  It wasn't quite there.  I WILL get it before team training starts in September.  The bar comes away from my shins as soon as it breaks the floor, and I'm not sure why.  I think fixing it might be enough to get me over that barrier.

It seems reasonable that, since I'm weak off the floor, I should be able to put the bar on blocks and pull heavier, right?  Apparently not, because 475 didn't budge off the blocks, and 405 was a real grind.  I guess this is a weak point, so I'm going to hammer it next week.

Assorted Light Squats

Huzzah!  I was able to front, oly, and competition squat today with little to no pain in my hip!  I didn't go over 50%, but it's a start.  Stretching my hip flexor beforehand made all the difference.
